A Holiday Gift Guide for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) - aka Sensory Sensitive People / 2024

Hello dear HSPs & friends/family of HSPs!! We are rapidly approaching a time of year I absolutely LOVE - the holidays!! I thoroughly enjoy the lights + decor + just about everything holiday related. It’s a magical time; isn’t it? My gift guide may be used for Christmas, Hanukkah, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Valentine’s Day or any day you like!! You may choose to gift someone else &/or your beautiful self!! I hope some of the ideas below will be purrfect for your loved ones & for YOU!!

While I highly recommend shopping your local, independent stores/artists, Etsy & farmers’ markets, etc., I’m linking many of my ideas here to Amazon - for the ease factor. But, please remember to shop locally too. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for women-owned small businesses.

Also, a reminder about HSPs and what we need to flourish: HSPs need to check in with ourselves often. It’s imperative to keep our nervous systems as regulated as possible. Oftentimes, this is a challenging task. HSPs relish quiet, peaceful environments + meaningful 1:1 convos + lots of down time + so much more. Most of us love to write, journal & reflect. We value growth + harmony + being able to live life in our own unique (HSP) way - with the least amount of stress & pressure as is possible in modern society. Approximately 80% of us are introverts.; tuning inward is one of our superpowers.

Life Lessons *Revisited* - with love, from a Highly Sensitive Soul, INFP & Cat Lover

Hello World!

It has been a minute since I’ve written a blog post - & that’s okay! I gave myself permission to take a break. Life has been very, very full - to say the least! During this past year,

  • I navigated an unexpected & extra challenging move (which turned out to be a blessing!)

  • Landed a side gig (twice!) to help pay the bills while slowly/spaciously growing my biz (a story in & of itself!)

  • Helped support a loved one through a painful divorce - a nightmare, actually - (definitely an eye-opener on multiple levels)

  • Lost a beloved kitty cat/BFF who peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge - in my presence & in our new living room; rest in peace, sweet Sally Meow

All the while, I tried my absolute best to take care of myself. Like many (all?) HSPs, I require more sleep & down time than other folks. Quality sleep is medicine for me; I really can’t do without it whilst continuing to THRIVE! I also need plenty of quiet time to ponder, daydream, write/journal, think & simply BE. (I’ve been teased throughout my life - mostly, but not always, in a good natured fashion - about the amount of sleep I require & how highly I prioritize sleep. You know what? No excuses. No shame. It’s what I need, & that is that. #Self-Care)

Stress Relief + Self Care Reminders For HSPs

If you’re an HSP, you’ve probably realized by now that you need ample “down time” - time to reflect & simply “be” (rather than being compulsively “busy.”) This time is vital for us (it’s our cornerstone) because it allows us the opportunity to truly & deeply connect with ourselves. HSPs require this kind of quality time every single day. It’s sacred & hallowed time which helps us both decompress & fill up our cups - in order to be able to connect lovingly & generously with our families, friends, communities & world.
